Securing USD 8 Mio funding for Lemur Conservation, Madagascar

Supporting Primate Specialist Group

The Bristol Zoological Society (BZS) is a UK-based conservation charity made up of three distinct parts: Bristol Zoo Gardens, a five-hectare zoo in the heart of Bristol; its Conservation Programmes and Conservation Science departments, which are responsible for its field conservation and scientific work; and the Wild Place Project—a new 55-hectare conservation-led zoological park located at Cribbs Causeway, South Gloucestershire.

BZS, in partnership with other European zoos, runs a large lemur conservation and research programme in northwest Madagascar and hosts the IUCN SSC Primate Specialist Group’s Madagascar Programme Office.

To successfully implement their Lemur Conservation Strategy, the Croeni Charity supported the Bristol Zoological Society’s employment of a IUCN SSC Primate Specialist Group – Madagascar Section Programme Officer.
